Getting your player ready...

Every year, I have golfers call me in the spring saying that their swing or putting is terrible. The first thing I ask is: “Did you play a lot of winter golf?” The problem here is that winter golf in Colorado is fun, but because of heavier clothing, cold temperatures and lack of distance, golfers can lose 20 degrees of shoulder turn, swing harder and lose their natural rhythm. Here is a pretty good solution: On a full swing, go to the range and work your short irons. Simply be smooth, with a good shoulder turn and don’t rush your downswing. Now your tempo will come back. Don’t worry about distance — that will come. As far as putting goes, once the grass is set — and here is the hard part — putt nonstop for one hour. Work different distances until you start to see the ball go into the hole. Your confidence will come back.
