GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A rancher southeast of Palisade is reporting 33 head of cattle as missing.
The Daily Sentinel reports () the cattle disappeared in January. They range in age from 5 to 8 years old and are mostly white and yellow, but a few are reddish. The animals are branded on their left shoulder with an underlined number five and a diamond.
Colorado Cattleman’s Association Executive Vice President Terry Fankhauser says the livestock, valued at about $50,000, are presumed to be stolen because the animals have been missing for a fair amount of time. He says that many cattle could fill a semitrailer.
Anyone with information on the missing cattle is asked to call Operation Livestock Thief at (800) 332-4155. Information leading to a conviction can earn up to $2,500.
