DENVER—A hotel project near Denver International Airport and a Pueblo project have been chosen to receive incentives under the Regional Tourism Act, beating out projects in Douglas County, Glendale, Estes Park and Montrose County.
Colorado economic development officials said Friday that Gaylord Entertainment’s project to build a 1,500-room hotel in Aurora has been approved to receive an estimated $81.4 million in sales tax rebates over 30 years. Gaylord had said it wouldn’t proceed unless it could receive $153.4 million. Gaylord CEO Colin Reed told The Denver Post () the company is reviewing the project’s viability.
The Pueblo Riverwalk Entertainment District would receive an estimated $14.8 million in rebates over 30 years for an expanded Pueblo Convention Center, Professional Bull Riding University, a new Boathouse/Gateway Center and a Regional Aquatic Center.
