Spotlight’s “Beau Jest”

Through June 30: Sarah is a nice Jewish girl with a problem: Her parents want her married to a nice Jewish boy. She tells them she is dating a Jewish doctor and they insist on meeting him. Problem is, he’s a WASP executive named Chris Kringle, so Sarah employs an escort service to send her a Jewish date. That’s just the start of her problems. At the John Hand Theatre, 7653 E. 1st Place, 720-880-8727 or

Inspire Creative’s “An Evening on Broadway”

Through Sunday: These benefit performances will feature music and dance selections from a variety of Broadway favorites like “Jekyll and Hyde,” “The Lion King,” “Chicago,” “West Side Story,” “The Book of Mormon” and more. At the PACE Center, 20000 Pikes Peak Ave., Parker, 303-790-0875 or

Equinox Theatre’s “In the Next Room” (or “The Vibrator Play”)

Through June 16: Sarah Ruhl’s Tony- and Pulitzer-nominated new play is a smart period comedy that dispels old-fashioned notions of female sexuality, intimacy and marriage. The provocative title refers to the early history of the vibrator, when doctors used it as a clinical device as treatment for “hysteria.” At the Bug Theatre, 3654 Navajo St., 720-984-0781 or

Buntport’s “The Roast Beef Situation”

Through June 16: Buntport’s 32nd original production explores the politics of the absurd. In 1787, the clown Carlo Delpini was thrown into a London prison for saying the words “roast beef” on stage (true story). Delpini’s outburst contravened the Licensing Act, which made it illegal for unlicensed theaters to use any dialogue that was not accompanied by music. Buntport brings Carlo Delpini back to the stage in a comedy about this clown controversy. 717 Lipan St., 720-946-1388 or
