FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Health officials are warning about the possibility of more rabies cases in Larimer County after five rabid skunks were found in the past two weeks.
The county Department of Health and Environment said Thursday that numerous cases of rabies will likely be found in skunks and other animals from a variant of the virus that arrived in Colorado in 2007.
A map showing places where rabid skunks and bats have been found in the county is posted at . Health officials say it will be updated as new cases are reported.
In the two most recent cases, a rabid skunk was chased from a poultry enclosure at a private home and found dead the next morning and another was seen walking in circles.
