On Friday, the first night of beefed up DUI enforcement for the holiday weekend, more than 30 people were arrested for DUI at various checkpoints set up throughout the city, according to Denver Police.

More than 1,300 vehicles drove through checkpoints from 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday night and early this morning, according to a news release from Denver Police.

Enforcement operations will continue throughout the weekend by Denver Police. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol also will conduct a DUI checkpoint in the Evergreen area from 8 tonight until 2 a.m. Sunday in support of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s 100 Days of Heat campaign.
