COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Former Spectranetics Corp. CEO John Schulte has been sentenced to a year of probation for lying to federal investigators.

The Gazette reports ( ) a federal judge also ordered Schulte to pay a $5,000 fine and to perform 100 hours of community service. His attorney, Thomas Kirsch, says Schulte paid the fine Tuesday.

Schulte was charged after a federal investigation into accusations that Spectranetics illegally imported and marketed unapproved medical devices.

Two other former employees of the Colorado Springs-based medical laser manufacturer were either acquitted or had charges dropped. An employee of Spectranetics contractor is awaiting sentencing on one count of concealing a felony.

Spectranetics paid $5 million in penalties and forfeitures to settle allegations and avoid prosecution.
