COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—Police searching for a 7-month-old boy missing since March have found the remains of a child in a Denver-area landfill.
Adams County officials who headed the investigation said Commerce City police found the remains Wednesday at the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site. Authorities are waiting for forensic tests to identify the remains.
For nearly eight weeks, 500 people from various agencies and community organizations sorted more than 1 million square feet of the regional landfill before finding the remains.
The missing boy’s mother, 23-year-old Sharrieckia Page, was charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death shortly after the boy disappeared. She is being held at the Adams County jail.
Commerce City police started looking for Page’s son after a relative asked for a welfare check.
