COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Authorities say a man who was shot and killed outside a Colorado Springs bar was a soldier from Louisiana who was stationed at Fort Carson.
Spc. Kendrick O. James of Mer Rouge, La., was killed early Saturday. A woman was wounded.
Fort Carson said Tuesday the 22-year-old James had joined the Army in 2009 and had deployed once to Afghanistan. He was a member of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, part of Fort Carson’s 4th Infantry Division.
Twenty-six-year-old Dwight Gordon was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder. He is being held without bail and hasn’t entered a plea.
