STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—Organizers of a cattle drive that’s scheduled to head through downtown Steamboat Springs on July 1 are seeking donations to make sure it happens.
The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports ( ) organizers need $3,000 to cover insurance premiums in order to revive the cattle drive, last done in 2009. Organizer Dean Vogelaar says that cost was higher than expected.
Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association spokeswoman Michelle Krasilinec says the $3,000 to insure the cattle drive on Lincoln Avenue is above a $1,000 premium for the Fourth of July parade. The chamber sponsors the cattle drive.
Organizers say the event adds to the Cowboys’ Roundup Days, celebrating the Yampa Valley’s western heritage.
