FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Oil drillers are gearing up after the Fort Collins City Council rejected a moratorium on oil and gas development in the city.
Black Diamond Minerals, owner of an oil field next to a new housing subdivision, says it is planning to drill new wells between houses or sell them to another company.
Officials say the moratorium is not needed because only a small amount of oil and gas drilling is likely to happen within city limits.
According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan (), industry representatives say they will work with the city to address concerns about the impacts of oil and gas development. They also promise to follow strict environmental regulations.
