More than 275,000 participants attended Denver Gay Pride last year, and the numbers are expected to climb this year.  The parade commenced at 9:30 am in Cheesman Park, off E. 8th Avenue at Williams Street. The procession ran along Colfax Avenue finishing at the PrideFest in Civic Center Park.   The first Denver PrideFest occurred in 1976. PrideFest is an annual Gay pride event held each June in Denver, Colorado. Tens of thousands of people are expected to crowd the streets around Civic Center this weekend for the annual PrideFest festival centered around gay and lesbian culture.

The event, which raises money for the nonprofit LGBT cultural hub called The Center, attracts more than 325,000 visitors.

The event’s hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m Sunday.

The Center Stage for musical acts runs from about 11 a.m. to after 5 p.m. both days. There also is an Outwest Country stage and a Carnival Latino stage.

There also is a “Dogs in Drag” event, a swimwear fashion show and a family interactive area with face-painting and snow cones.

On Sunday, the CoorsLight PrideFest parade steps off from Cheesman Park at 9:30 a.m. and travels down East Colfax Avenue into Civic Center.
