GREELEY — A Greeley woman who set her house on fire while her son was sleeping inside was sentenced to the maximum sentence of 12 years in prison by Weld District Court Judge Timothy Kerns Wednesday. Kerns said the facts in this case coupled with her lengthy criminal history could have warranted an aggravating circumstances sentencing, which would have held the maximum penalty of 24 years.
Kendra Delsordo, 40, was charged with first-degree arson and a misdemeanor count of reckless endangerment. She received a concurrent sentence of six months for the misdemeanor.
A Weld jury found that Delsordo set fire to her rental home, likely before going to bed on Dec. 17, 2010. She and her son awoke the next morning to a smoke-filled house. Fire investigators found more than 15 burn marks around the outside of the house. When interviewed by police, Delsordo told three different stories, eventually admitting to starting the fire, but accidentally.
