Visual Art: The best of a lasting tradition

Through July 21. It’s not easy for an artist to get into the Oil Painters of America’s National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils. More than 2,000 paintings are submitted, and less than 10 percent make the cut. For the winners, who demonstrate the best in “draftmanship, color and composition,” glory — and $80,000 in prize money — await. For art lovers, there’s a world-class exhibition of a traditional art form that’s easy to appreciate and nothing less than massive. The exhibition comes to Colorado for the first time this year, taking over Evergreen Fine Art Gallery for a month. The gallery is at 3042 Evergreen Pkwy. Free. More: 303-679-3610 or
