DURANGO, Colo.—Authorities say one person is dead and two others have been injured in an explosion at a natural gas compression station in western Colorado.
The Durango Herald reports ( ) the explosion occurred Monday morning at a facility owned by BP.
BP says a crew was performing pipeline maintenance at the time.
La Plata County sheriff’s spokesman Dan Bender says the injuries to the two workers were serious. BP says it can’t confirm the seriousness of the injuries.
U.S. 160 was closed because of the explosion but reopened about an hour later.
