FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Authorities have increased the number of homes destroyed by the High Park fire to 257, saying they found nine homes that hadn’t been counted before.
Larimer County Sheriff’s spokesman Nick Christensen said Tuesday that no additional homes had burned.
The fire west of Fort Collins has grown by about 6 square miles to 136 square miles total. Containment is at 55 percent.
Incident commander Beth Lund says she is optimistic about holding and extending fire lines.
Authorities say lightning started the fire on June 9. Hundreds of evacuated residents are still waiting to return home.
