Firefighters with the North Metro Fire Rescue extinguished an apartment fire in Broomfield on Wednesday afternoon before it could cause significant damage to the building.
However, one adult male was transported to St. Anthony’s North Hospital with serious injuries and one apartment unit was affected with heavy smoke and fire damage.
At 3:50 p.m., crew members were called to the Willow Run Village Apartments, 12601 Zuni St., on reports of a third-floor apartment fire.
Flames and smoke were visible from the unit as crews arrived.
The firefighters were able to fully contain the flames in 20 minutes, with the help of two overhead sprinklers in the apartment, according to a news release.
North Metro Fire Rescue and the Broomfield Police Department were conducting a joint investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
