The Westminster Police Department and Westminster SWAT team arrested a 29-year-old man early Tuesday morning after he barricaded himself inside his home and fired one shot at officers.

Justin Nicholas Cook was contacted by police after they were called on a report of a traffic dispute and felony menacing at 1:59 a.m. According to a Westminster Police news release , police were given Cook’s license plate number and were able to briefly speak with him at his home before he refused further communication with the officers.

Attempts by the SWAT team to negotiate with Cook were unsuccessful until 6:45 a.m. , when they were able to take him into custody without incident.

Cook is being held Wednesday at the Jefferson County Detention Facility on a $2,500 cash-only bond . He faces potential charges of felony menacing , obstructing governmental operations and impersonating a police officer .
