DENVER—A woman who pleaded guilty to perjury for misleading authorities as they hunted for her foster son in a rape case has been sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Police accused 73-year-old Sylvia Luckett of trying to protect her foster son, Bret Thompson, who allegedly abducted an 8-year-old girl from a Denver alley in 2010.

According to the Denver Post ( ), authorities also believe Luckett gave Thompson money and a vehicle to flee the state after he allegedly dumped the girl at a gas station.

Thompson was arrested and pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping and sexual assault on a child
