GREELEY, Colo.—Police have released the name of a man who was shot to death by officers during an hours-long standoff in Greeley.

Department spokeswoman Sgt. Susan West says 26-year-old Adrian Jeremiah Perales of Greeley was an acquaintance of the woman he held hostage for about three hours in a basement apartment Friday. Police stormed the apartment, killing Perales and rescuing the woman unharmed.

The Greeley Tribune ( ) reports the standoff began when Perales saw police approaching the home to arrest him on an outstanding warrant stemming from two gang-related shootings over Father’s Day weekend.
