The Denver District Attorney’s Office Tuesday announced felony charges against parents involved in two separate instances of alleged child abuse.
A couple who allegedly left their infant son unattended in a bath seat face felony charges in the 6-month-old son’s drowning death.
Tahca Christensen, 23, and Aldo Preza, 25, each face a count of felony child abuse resulting in death, a Class 2 felony.
The charges alleged that the pair put baby Angel Preza in a bath seat and left him unattended for several minutes. The child was later found upside down with his face in the water.
Hospital staff pronounced Angel dead a short time later, and both parents remain in custody with bonds set at $125,000. Christensen and Preza will appear in Denver County Court Friday to be advised of the charges against them.
In a separate case, Marquis Garrison, 30, faces a felony child abuse charge for allegedly shaking his infant daughter and throwing her to the ground.
Prosecutors believe Garrison, who’s been charged with Class 3 felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, grew annoyed with the baby’s crying. They say the June 25 incident caused serious injuries to the baby’s head, legs and shoulders.
Garrison also remains in custody with bond set at $75,000. He, too, will appear in court Friday to hear the charges against him.
