GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—Authorities are looking for a 12-year-old boy who is believed to have drowned while tubing in the Colorado River near Glenwood Springs.
Garfield County Sheriff Lou Vallario tells the Post Independent ( ) that witnesses saw Richard Irving Buchanan struggling in the water near the South Canyon Bridge, and then seeing him sink below the surface Sunday afternoon.
The boy, a Jamaican immigrant, was tubing with his stepfather and 19-year-old sister. His mother, Sharline Heiney, says he knew how to swim but was not wearing a life jacket.
Meanwhile, Eagle County authorities have found the body of a 41-year-old Avon man believed to have drowned in the Eagle River east of Arrowhead. Robert Greenbury’s body was found Saturday morning and an autopsy is pending.
Foul play is not suspected.
