Searchers in Boulder County are looking for a 74-year-old hiker with the early stages of dementia who has been lost since Tuesday afternoon.
Patricia Wallace of Lafayette became separated from a group of friends she was hiking with about 4 p.m. along the Buchanan Pass Trail near the Camp Dick campground. The area is close to mile marker 50 on the Peak to Peak Highway.
Wallace is white, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, about 135 pounds, and has dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing a large, floppy hat and knee-length shorts. She was carrying two trekking poles.
The trailhead is about 18 miles north of Nederland in the Indian Peaks area. The is 7.7 miles long and is rated as easy to moderate.
A search began Tuesday and has continued Wednesday. Ten teams are combing the area by ground, with the help of search dogs and aircraft, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
