GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—Garfield County authorities say a longboarder who died after falling into the Colorado River was from Eagle.

Coroner’s officials identified the man Thursday as 52-year-old Scott Young.

Sheriff’s officials say Young was surfing on a longboard Wednesday afternoon when he went into the river. Sheriff’s deputies found bystanders performing CPR on him at a spot east of Glenwood Springs. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities say he wasn’t wearing a personal flotation device.
