Getting your player ready...

According to Noel Perry, managing director at FTR Associates, the shortage of professionally trained truck drivers has dramatically driven up annual salaries.

“The driver shortage has driven up salaries by 5 percent this year to $50,000 per year now,” said Perry.

Despite an unemployment rate above 8 percent, there’s still a significant demand for truck drivers.

“We’re training a lot of people that used to work in construction, factory and manufacturing jobs right now,” said Frank Trujillo at US Truck Driving School. “People are looking for jobs that have high wages, good benefits and are recession proof. That’s what trucking driving can provide.”
With many of the Baby Boomers retiring, there is now a shortage of well-trained, professional truck drivers. “It’s getting hard to get drivers now,” says Mike Card of Combined Transport. “I could hire 50 drivers right now.”

In order to help Trucking Companies hire more new drivers, US Truck Driving School will be hosting the area’s largest Truck Driving Career Fair. On Wednesday, July 11th, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., you can learn about the industry, and find out what it takes to get started as a professional driver. Werner Enterprises, JBS, Swift Transportation, Navajo and US Express will be on site interviewing and pre-hiring new driver trainees.

“The best thing about this career is that you don’t need any prior trucking experience,” said Dick Lammers, president of US Truck. “We help you through the entire process. We can get you pre-hired, fully trained and ready to start work in just three weeks. That means – in less than a month – you can start earning a good paycheck.”

For more information about how you can get pre-hired, trained and ready for work as a truck driver, contact US Truck today at 866-618-1429, or on the web at ustruck.com.
