With the U.S. Amateur just a month away from coming to Denver, CommonGround Golf Course, which will host part of the stroke play beginning Aug. 13, is holding an U.S. Amateur alumni day Tuesday for golf fans. The USGA’s top amateur event is Aug. 13-19 at Cherry Hills and CommonGround. Tuesday’s event, which is noon-2 p.m., is free to the public and will include an autograph session with former U.S. Amateur qualifiers, as well as a skills challenge. Scheduled to play in the challenge are Steve Ziegler, Wyndham Clark, Gunner Wiebe, Scott Petersen, Tom Glissmeyer, Ben Portie and brothers Zen and Zahkai Brown. Kids will receive a free lunch and U.S. Amateur hat, and adults who bring the kids get a free ticket for the Amateur.
