BOULDER, Colo.—The University of Colorado Board of Regents is considering joining an appeal in a lawsuit that would direct more funding for K-12 public schools.
CU has been asked to join the appeal to the Colorado Supreme Court after a lower court struck down the state’s public education funding system, calling it inadequate. The regents are meeting Friday to review the request from state officials to offer their opinion in the case.
According to the Boulder Daily Camera ( ), an attorney for the university says the state is also required to provide financial support to higher education.
This year the state is providing $141 million for the CU system, down from $209 million in fiscal year 2009.
