Greeley mixed martial arts fighter Shane Carwin will return to the UFC this fall — and he’ll do it on national TV.

Carwin will be one of two heavyweight coaches on season 16 of “The Ultimate Fighter” on FX, UFC president Dana White said.

Carwin will coach against — and ultimately fight — Roy Nelson.

“TUF,” a reality show/tournament, pits two teams of 16 welterweight fighters in an elimination bracket. Carwin and Nelson will coach the opposing teams, then in December they will fight live on FX in Las Vegas.

“This is going to be a very interesting dynamic between these two heavyweights,” White told USA Today. “They both have huge punching power and great chins.”

Carwin (12-2) works out of the Grudge Training Center in Wheat Ridge and is coming off a two-bout losing skid. Denver Post wire services
