Saturday-Aug. 4 . Things turn otherworldly in the mountains this week as Central City Opera stages Benjamin Britten’s strange and beautiful “The Turn of the Screw.” Based on the Henry James novella, the opera tells of a nanny keeping her charges safe from the ghosts of nannies past. It’s creepy, dissonant and very cool. Hear it at 8 p.m. Saturday and Aug. 4; or 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 25 and 29. $30-110. Making things even more interesting is the accompanying Turn of the Screwfest (you heard that right) following the afternoon performances on July 21 and 29 and featuring songs, seances and stories with a paranormal bent. Location: 124 Eureka St., Central City. 303-292-6700 or . Ray Mark Rinaldi
