DENVER—Beware of Denver water police who are on the prowl for people who violate drought rules.
Denver Water spokeswoman Stacy Chesney says there are plenty of people out there who are willing to tell on their neighbors.
Denver is currently under a Stage 1 declaration, which includes no lawn watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. and watering only three days a week.
According to the Denver Post ( ), Water Saver patrols have made 4,000 stops, issued 2,700 violations and fined five people so far this year. Fines start at $50 and are issued only after three warnings.
