Classic rock band , which has not toured in four years, will play Denver’s in 2013, promoter AEG Live announced Wednesday morning.
The band has been largely out of the spotlight since performing at the .
The tour, which begins Nov. 1 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., will hit the Pepsi Center in Denver on Feb. 12, 2013. The band will perform its sixth album, the 1973 double release “Quadrophenia” in its entirety, alongside other Who favorites, according to the release.
Founding members Daltrey and Pete Townshend — the only two remaining members of the original lineup — will be joined by the backing band of Zak Starkey on drums, Pino Palladino on bass, Simon Townshend on guitar/backing vocals, Chris Stainton on keyboards, Loren Gold on keyboards/backing vocals and Frank Simes as musical director also playing keyboards/backing vocals. That’s a lot of keyboards/backing vocals.
Said Reverb writer Jason Blevins of : “Not two years out of throat surgery and 18 shows into a 28-show North American tour, Daltrey howled and growled like little has changed since the slight 20-year-old began his mission with the Who, which eventually anchored the band with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones as Great Britain’s Holy Trinity of Rock.”
