AVON — — At its heart, the conflict between the town of Avon and Village at Avon developers is about who gets paid in what amounts, and how far into the future. That hazy future, and an event that may never happen, came into focus for a while at Tuesday’s meeting between town officials and Village at Avon representatives.

As town officials and attorneys for Village at Avon developers try to finalize a legal settlement of a pair of lawsuits that date to 2009, Tuesday’s discussion turned to something that may never happen — City Market moving to the Village at Avon. That move isn’t in anyone’s vision of the foreseeable future right now, but it could have a big effect on the finances of both the town and the metropolitan district that controls the Village at Avon.

Part of the original dispute between the town and the developers was payment of revenue generated when Wal-Mart was in the spot currently occupied by Office Depot and Sports Authority.
