Caleb Pacheco died almost a year before authorities found the 2-year-old’s remains stuffed under a Sterling mobile home in January.
A one-page autopsy report released Thursday said the cause of death was “unable to be determined.” The autopsy described the little boy’s remains as “skeletonized.”
It was initially thought that Caleb’s mother, Juanita Kinzie, killed her son when he was 3 years old, but the report shows that he was 2 when he died.
Caleb’s family last saw him and his mother in January 2011. Several family members spent the following year looking for the little boy.
Kinzie was arrested in Denver Jan. 22. Authorities found Caleb’s body, wrapped in blankets and plastic, underneath the mobile home that evening.
In June, Kinzie, 24, was sentenced to 32 years in prison, after she pleaded guilty to one count of child abuse resulting in death and one count of second-degree murder. She will serve 24 years before she is eligible for parole.
