Tameka Montgomery on Monday was named executive director of the Denver Metro Chamber Leadership Foundation.

Montgomery formerly served as executive director of the chamber’s Denver Metro Small Business Development Center.

The Leadership Foundation offers programs to expand the skills and knowledge of emerging business leaders in metro Denver.

“Tameka’s entrepreneurial skill and dedication to the growth and development of small business has been an incredible asset to the chamber and its affiliates for the past seven years,” Kelly Brough, president and chief executive of the chamber, said in a statement. “Her connection and commitment to Colorado’s business community makes her a perfect fit for this role with the organization.”

Montgomery holds a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College and a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University. In May 2012, Johnson & Wales University conferred on her an honorary doctorate of business administration in entrepreneurship.

“I am excited about shifting my focus from small business development to developing leadership programs that inspire civic engagement,” Montgomery said.
