Breckenridge police may be on the look out for a suspect with a sweet tooth and sticky fingers after cakes and cash were stolen from Rocky Mountain Cupcakes in Breckenridge Thursday night.
A burglar or burglars broke into the shop on Main Street sometime between 10 p.m. Thursday and approximately 8 a.m. the following day, breaking two windows and stealing an undisclosed amount of money and an undisclosed number of push-up cake sliders from the store.
“I guess the bandit couldn’t wait until we were open to purchase a cupcake,” Rocky Mountain Cupcakes owner Staci Johnson told the Summit Daily in an e-mail. “While of course, this was not something any business owner wants to hear, we can only pick up the broken pieces and move forward.”
The cupcake shop lost only two hours of business as a result of the break-in, reopening by 1 p.m. Friday afternoon. The case is still under investigation.
