DENVER—Denver prosecutors say two people whose 17-month-old child was accidentally shot last week have been criminally charged.
Iesha Paris is charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury and misdemeanor child abuse. Darryl Hunter is charged with being an accessory to child abuse and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
The charges allege Paris had left the 17-month-old and a 2 1/2-year old child in a room where there was access to a gun. Paris allegedly told a detective the children were playing when she heard what sounded like a gunshot. The Denver Post reports () Paris found the younger child shot in the arm and face area.
Paris and Hunter were free on $50,000 bond Thursday. They have unlisted phone numbers and couldn’t be reached for comment.
