Pop music: Dusty Springfield is (kind of) back on the stage

Sunday. Kirsten Holly Smith bills her evening of Dusty Springfield songs as “one of a kind,” and we can hardly dispute that. We can’t think of any other act that re-creates Springfield’s high-hair heyday of the late 1960s, who belts out classics like “Son of Preacher Man” and “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me.”

And we definitely can’t recall a show with such built-in charm coming to the intimate space that is Lannie’s Clocktower Cabaret. Smith is an Arapahoe High grad living in New York where her “Dusty! The Live Experience…” opens soon. She’s bringing it here for a night first and it sounds promising. 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Lannie’s, 16th Street Mall and Arapahoe Street. 303-293-0075 or .
