Camp facts: The Broncos have Sunday off.
Saturday’s highlight: On third-and-7 from the defense’s 9-yard line, Peyton Manning came up to the line of scrimmage — and audibled. He started yelling and pointing at six guys. The signature Manning audible was a pretty sight to the crowd of 41,304 — more than double the previous stadium scrimmage record — that roared its approval. Manning then threw a perfect back-shoulder pass to Eric Decker, who beat Drayton Florence just inside the goal line for a score.
Saturday’s lowlight: The No. 1 offensive line allowed the No. 2 defensive pass rush to collapse the pocket on three consecutive passes by Peyton Manning. Unable to step into his throw on one play, Manning’s pass was intercepted by safety David Bruton.
QB watch:
Peyton Manning: Went 6-of-6 on the first 7-on-7 drill. In his first 11-on-11 series, he started 0-of-2, but finished 4-of-8 with a touchdown pass to Eric Decker.
Caleb Hanie: Didn’t have much time in his 11-on-11 series as the No. 2 offensive line got steamrolled by the No. 1 front four. Sacked by Elvis Dumervil on his first play.
Adam Weber: Nice scramble to avoid a sack, but didn’t complete a pass in his 11-on-11 session.
Brock Osweiler: Got plenty of 11-on-11 reps. Showed patience by completing some underneath passes.
Position battle: The top four receivers seem pretty well set with Demaryius Thomas, Eric Decker, Brandon Stokley and Andre “Bubba” Caldwell. Matt Willis, a special teams gunner extraordinaire, has to be the frontrunner for the No. 5 spot. Gerrell Robinson and Mark Dell each caught a pass from Osweiler.
