A 17-year-old boy was injured Saturday morning after he allegedly stole, and then crashed, a box truck into a building and a fence in Arvada, authorities say.

The boy had to be extricated from the truck, said Scott Pribble, spokesman for the Arvada Fire Protection District.

The boy’s name has not been released because he is a juvenile, said Jill McGanahan, spokeswoman for the Arvada Police Department.

Pribble said he does not know the extent of the boy’s injuries.

The crash happened at 7:20 a.m. at 6240 W. 54th Avenue, Pribble said. The 17-year-old boy drove into a building where Ceavco Audio Visual is located, McGanahan said.

It took firefighters 10 minutes using “jaws of life” equipment to extricate the boy from the crash, Pribble said.

Arvada police are investigating from where the truck was stolen and the circumstances of the crash, McGanahan said.
