ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—A look at Peyton Manning’s day at Denver Broncos training camp:

PEYTON’S PLACE: Manning’s completion percentage wasn’t as high as it has been, but a lot of that had to do with Denver’s defense having its best day of camp, and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas missing most of the team drills with a sore Achilles.

HOW’D HE DO?: He was just 5-of-10 on one drive, and after a “sack” by Von Miller, threw four straight incompletions from inside the 10-yard line. But a closer look reveals Manning made great decisions and would have had a TD throw on third down had Andre Caldwell turned his head quicker and had his hands higher.

TALKING MANNING: “I think it’s been good back and forth for all of camp. I think all of them are anxious to go against somebody with a different jersey color. A guy like Peyton at quarterback sharpens your defensive skills, for sure, because he’s so accurate.”—Broncos coach John Fox.
