DENVER—Authorities say a first-degree murder charge against a man who was arrested in a slaying near Silver Plume has been dismissed.

Capt. Bruce Snelling with the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office says 56-year-old Thomas Claeys of Kiowa was released from the county jail Thursday. Robbery and kidnapping charges also were dismissed.

Meanwhile, Snelling said 28-year-old Jesus Reyna and 37-year-old Shawn Sheeley have been charged with felony first-degree murder and kidnapping in the 2010 death of 31-year-old Conrad Crall, whose body was found off Interstate 70.

Snelling says Reyna and Sheeley implicated themselves in the shooting death, and after their statements, there was insufficient evidence to prove Claeys committed the murder. The Denver Post ( ) reports Claeys could not be reached for comment.
