Aspen Ski has joined with three other ski resorts to form the “Mountain Collective,” which will allow skiers and riders to ski Aspen/Snowmass; the Alta Ski area in Utah; Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Wyoming; and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows in California on one pass.

According to the four companies, for $349, the Mountain Collective Pass includes two free days at each of the four destinations, plus a 50 percent discount on unlimited lift tickets at each of the destinations once the complimentary days are used.

In addition, pass holders will receive lodging deals throughout the season.

David Belin, a ski resort industry analyst with RRC in Boulder, said the move showed a degree of cooperation among competing resorts he has never seen before.

The mountains offered, he added, are for the more passionate, advanced and younger skier and snowboarder who would see it as a “badge of honor” to ski all four this winter.

Ford Frick, a resort and tourism analyst with BBC Research & Consulting in Denver,
said it appeared the resorts were organizing to counterbalance Vail Resorts. “I’m not shocked,” said Frick. “It seems like a reasonable business strategy.”

The ski resorts said that collectively the pass enables access to eight mountains with more than 16,000 acres of terrain and more than 100 lifts.
