STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — —The Routt County Board of Commissioners will consider Tuesday whether to spend as much as $105,000 to contract with a local engineering firm to create construction drawings for right-of-way work that is part of the future straightening of Routt County Road 14 on the way to Stagecoach Reservoir.

The contract would be with Civil Design Consultants Inc. The county spent $1.2 million in 2011 to acquire small parcels of privately owned land in the vicinity of the road.

The intent is that it someday would be straightened along a 5.2-mile length of the county road between Colorado Highway 131 and Stagecoach Reservoir about 12 miles south of Steamboat Springs.

The county was passed over in December 2011 for a $13.5 million federal highway grant that would have funded the construction project.
