MONTROSE, Colo.—It’s on to Gunnison and Aspen for USA Pro Challenge cyclists, who have now finished two stages of the weeklong race.
On Tuesday, they headed from Montrose to Mount Crested Butte. The undulating stage had three category 3 climbs, including the final 2-mile uphill effort to the finish. That climb was an exciting part of last year’s race.
The two new climbs are Cerro Summit and Blue Mesa Summit.
Tejay Van Garderen was declared the winner of the stage, with Christian Vande Velde finishing in the same time.
On Wednesday, the cyclists will go from Gunnison to Aspen on a 131-mile route.
