GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Denver District Court judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Battlement Mesa residents seeking to block Antero Resources from drilling for natural gas in their western Colorado community.
The Daily Sentinel reports ( ) the judge ruled he lacked the jurisdiction to issue an injunction to block drilling and that the plaintiffs haven’t pursued statutory remedies for challenging state regulators’ permitting decisions on Antero.
An attorney for Antero, Dan Dunn, says the company is pleased with the outcome of the case.
One of the plaintiffs, Garry Evenson, says he’s glad he tried challenging Antero.
Antero has said it plans to drill up to 200 wells within Battlement Mesa. The plans are on hold due to low natural gas prices.
