GREELEY, Colo.—A man convicted of providing alcohol to a University of Northern Colorado fraternity pledge who jumped to his death has been ordered to serve two years on supervised probation.

Twenty-three-year-old Kyle Edward Riley of Longmont was accused of buying alcohol for a Delta Tau Delta initiation party in 2011. Prosecutors say he provided freshman Ross Higuchi, of Aurora, with several shots of alcohol and a bottle of wine. Higuchi later jumped from a second-story balcony of the fraternity house during an argument with members. He died days later of his injuries.

Riley was convicted this summer of providing alcohol to a minor.

He was sentenced Tuesday to serve probation, 200 hours of community service, to complete a class on making positive choices, and wear an ankle monitor for 60 days.
