GLENWOOD SPRINGS— —Dave Stover has found a buyer for his business, Glenwood Shoe Service, so residents will not have to figure out how to survive without the city’s only shoe repair shop.
Joel Fischer, a jack of all trades who lives in Rifle with his wife, Cindy, is taking over the business that Stover built.
Glenwood Shoe has for years been the only shoe repair business in the Roaring Fork Valley, and one of two in Garfield County. The other is Rifle Boot and Saddle Repair in Rifle.
Fischer currently is being trained by Stover in preparation for moving the business.
The building that has housed the shop for 38 years, a 126-year old structure at 714 Grand Ave., is scheduled for demolition.
The new location will be 3001 S. Grand Ave., which formerly housed the Sportland motorcycle shop.
