BOULDER, Colo.—A judge has decided not to reduce the sentence of a man who assaulted a police officer after a dispute at a Boulder restaurant.

The Daily Camera ( ) reports attorney Nancy Salomone filed a motion on behalf of 24-year-old Treven Hunter, asking that his sentence be reduced so he could finish his degree at the University of Colorado. Hunter was sentenced in May to two years and one day for assaulting former officer Christian McCracken in 2011.

But Judge Thomas Mulvahill, noting that CU has suspended Hunter for the fall term, declined to reduce the sentence Friday.

Hunter was accused of refusing to pay his tab at The Sink and assaulting McCracken, who suffered a serious brain injury.

In a separate case, McCracken is accused of threatening to kill his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend while on disability leave.
