The Denver City Council on Monday voted not to pay $42,500 to settle a federal court suit filed by the Scarlet Ranch swingers club. Lawyers for the club alleged Denver Police officers used unreasonable force during a May 2010 raid on the club.
They raided the club believing there were illegal drugs being consumed at the club and that other city laws were being violated.
The suit filed in September 2011 claimed at least 10 police officers raided the club without a warrant, injured one of the members and stole a videotape that had captured the raid on the club’s surveillance system.
