 Denver set yet another weather record Wednesday, when the temperature reached 97 degrees at 1:50 p.m.

The high eclipsed the of 96 for the hottest Aug. 29 on record. The hottest Aug. 30 also was set in 1900, when the high was 98 degrees.

Denver’s forecast for Thursday calls for a high of 96.

Wednesday’s record-breaker followed a record-tying , and both days pushed the record for the number of days of at least 90 degrees to 64 . Denver on Monday/

The 30-year average for high temperatures on Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 is 85 degrees. The average slips to 84 on Aug. 31.

The hot dry weather moving across the state Tuesday is raising fire danger on the eastern half of the state.
